Dwayne bought an 86.5? that only had like 16000 miles on it for around $13500. It still had the factory tires on it. I would say $20,000. If you remember ChukZ had kermit and sold it for some large sum, but that was an OB.
Any pics?
Maybe he will chim in, I don't know about the values of low miled 928s and don't have the experience like he does, it could very well be worth over $30000.

What's it worth!?
Not the first year production, pre-S4 brakes and other goodies and not the last year of production and if you plan to drive it at all, you'll turn $30k into $15k overnight. If they can get $30k they should take it immediately!!!!

I'd pay market plus ~$10k but ONLY if it was truly pristine and original. It should have no wear items replaced except maybe the wipers, oil filter.

good insights.... keep it coming. What if it's lsd with sport seats... does that make a big difference since it's so clean (supposedly)

I think it all comes down to it being a S3, not a very sought after rare model, Chuck summed it up really good, not a late GTS and not the first year model, like Kermit. So anywhere from 13000 to 20000. It doesn't matter if it has LSD or sport seats, these stuff really don't add anymore value to the car other than being a plus during a sale.

The 5 speed makes a difference, but the LSD and seats not too much. If he's got an offer of $30k(I call BS) and he's expecting more in this market, I'd tell him to go pound sand.

The mileage is the only thing going for this car if correct. If it was an 86.5 he might get 30k with the right buyer. There is no way this car is worth 30k. Who keeps a low mile 85? Drive it and driver prices are half that number at best no matter the mileage.

Of course I would love to see pctures.

The '85/'86 doesnt' get the credit it deserves; as a runner it has the best wt/hp ratio of all sharks (quoting Porken, IIRC that is before adding his improvements), but as Chuck says, this is about collectability. This is the middle of the run, with the highest production numbers. It just doesn't command attention. I would be very surprised if it brought $15K on a 30-day ebay run. Depending on color and equip, I would love to have a pristine 86.5

Not much separates the 85/6 from the 86.5.

But the changes are ones that are worth it. Ie.. Brakes and suspension

Worth something, sure, just not enough for me to totally discount the 85/86. Plus, if you've gotta have it, S4 donors are becoming abundant.

If you prefer the older body style like I do, then the 86.5 gives you the best of both worlds.
