Default ITB intake system for sale

Hi,
I made up two ITB intake systems and they are ready for sale. I bought the last two sets (8) of the 50mm dual throttle bodies from TWM Induction that I used on my ITB intake system. TWM doesn't make this style anymore so when these are gone I can't make any more without re-designing everything and higher cost. I won't be doing that. I made the extra pieces needed to use these on a 928 32v motor and they are for sale. I don't have the adapter plates for one set so there will be a wait time for that. I didn't want to spend more money for the adapters until I was sure someone wanted to buy the set.

What you get.
1) Four TWM 3000 series dual throttle bodies configured for the 928.
2) Adapters so the throttle bodies will bolt to the 928 32v cylinder heads.
3) Adapter mounting plate to mount the stock S4/GT/GTS throttle actuating assembly. Normally bolts to the side of the intake manifold.
4) Throttle linkage to operate the throttle bodies from the stock throttle.
5) Throttle cable.
6) Vacuum accumulator to provide a vacuum source for the power brake, HVAC, and manifold absolute pressure sensor (if needed).
7) Throttle position sensor.
8) Fuel rails, AN-8 fuel fittings for each end of the rails, mounting hardware.

What you'll need.
1) Two Porsche 944 S2 or 968 intake manifold gaskets.
2) Port match the adapter plates to the cylinder head ports and to the TBs.
3) Modify the coolant bridge to clear the #1 cylinder throttle body.
4) Air horns (8).
5) Cold fresh air inlet, airbox and air filter. This can be done in a variety of ways.
6) Probably a different engine bay cross brace depending on your fresh air inlet configuration.
7) Connect the fuel using adapters to AN fittings and braided line, probably move the fuel pressure regulator to a more accessible location but not required.
8) Tune the engine with John Speake's Sharktuner.

The MAF can be used for engine load if it is located in the engine inlet air path. John is developing an alternative engine load source for use with the stock LH/EZ-K. This will use either throttle position, MAP, or both, along with intake air temp and altitude for air density corrections. The MAF won't be needed. This new enhancement is in prototype testing now.

The advantage of individual throttle for each cylinder is well known for producing maximum power and providing good drivability when using a high performance cam. My 6.5L GT makes about 87 rwhp per liter (without alcohol), and Mike Simard's 7.0L, makes about 91 rwhp per liter. A 5.0L with the right cam, and compression, should make about 420 rwhp depending on how fast you wanted to spin it. How many of us has wanted to see just what a 5.0L engine could do. Dennis Kao is part way there.

These would make a great companion intake for use with one of Colin Jensan's cam sets he's offering. Also for a non restrictive intake for twin turbo system like John Kuhn's, or for a centrifugal SC.

The price on the ITB set is $3150.00

These are based on the TWM ITB intakes for V8s. You can check out the TWM web site to see what they look like on Ford, Chevy, Mopar. Their air box filter could be adapted for use with the 928. It can't be used directly because I angle the TBs inward to lower the overall height and to give a direct path to the valve.
http://www.twminduction.com/v8_kits/v8_kits-FR.html
The TWM price for small block Ford or Chevy is $3995.00

928 Instructions can be downloaded here.

Here are some pictures. The view down the TB throat looking at the intake valves was recently taken on my engine with 20k miles on the ITB set. See how clean it is with no oil going into the intake and no reversion flow coming back up the port.

Hi Tom,
This would work great on your track car. You already have the MS setup. All I need is for two people to think it is such a smokin' deal they can't pass it up.

This is one sweet deal for a great setup. The pieces are like works of art, seeing it on both John's track car and Louie's beast. Going to buy my Lotto ticket on the way home from work.

Mike's system is a well thought out piece of hardware that is outstandingly made. For the price he's asking, he has to be giving away his time. His throttle body units are made to bolt right on the cylinder head. Without knowing exact measurements, I think his throttle plates are closer to the valves (not as tall) as the TWM throttle bodies mine are. That is a slight advantage since it would reduce reversion flow. I use a TWM 3000 series dual throttle body and I need to have an adapter to permit the throttle body to bolt to the head. My throttle linkage and vacuum accumulator is also off the shelf TWM manufactured items. I make the mount for the vacuum accumulator/throttle linkage, and the mount so the S4 style throttle actuator can be bolted right on, and a few other items. The cruise control and auto trans kick down cables are kept as normal and work. I think Mike's throttle actuation is intended to be (cable) operated direct from the pedal. The TWM throttle bodies are 50mm in diameter and Mikes is larger. I think 56mm, but I'm not sure about that. It is sized well for his 7L engine. The 50mm size will be ok for a 5.0L up to 6.5L although 50mm is a little small for maximum power on a 6.5L. Don Hanson had a set that was bored out to 52mm and his engine made more power than mine at the top end, but had lower mid range torque. Otherwise, our engines were identical except Don had Ti rods.

That's about all I know about the differences. Maybe Mike can better explain the differences with his setup.

Hi Carl,
Thanks for your kind words on my work. I hesitated putting pictures up of the intake on my engine because I have so many custom differences that wouldn't necessarily apply to how someone else may want to do their installation. Lots of options on how it may be handled.

My web site has pictures. http://www.performance928.com/cgi-bi...name=engineQYN

Here are a few pictures that are also on the web site and I have many more of various details.

Louie
