Default Bed Liner Question

Hey all. I have a Targa and was hoping to get a little more aggressive look while maintaining a factory(ish) feel. I was thinking about the lip in the pic below but instead of doing a body color I wanted to do something different.

My car has been lowered and it tends to rub every once in a while as it is. Because of this I am concerned that getting a nice body color finish would end up looking rough after a short while (even a few scratches would irritate me).

Ok...so here it is...has anyone done...or considered painting this with a spray/brush on bed liner of some sort? What kind of draw backs would there be (too thick) and does anyone have any suggestions? Do you think it would look right? Seems like it would hold up real well. Current part sorta looks like that right? Am I crazy.

The Targa bar has that satin/flat black as it is...seems like this might go nice. Would flat/satin black Cups tie the look in better? My wife is of no use when it comes to advice here.

Thanks all...I appreciate any help/thoughts you can provide.
