My experience with Kumho has been great, but I've only had one set of their tires which were on my 5.9 ZJ (MT KL71). I've never had a set of their performance tires, but based on previous experience, I'd be willing to give them a shot. The Ecsta XS has been getting very good reviews, but I don't personally know anyone who's running a set. Yokohama has been a mixed bag for me. Great experience with their ADVAN competition series (A032R, A048), but the AVS ES100 that so many like sucked monkey nuts. I couldn't get them off of my 951 fast enough. |

I still have my winter tires installed and need to get summer tires ASAP. I'm going to try one of the cheap options--Sumitomo HTRZ-III or Hankook Ventus V12 K110. Any comments?
Those model numbers might be off a little, but I'll bet you guys know what I mean.

I would do the Sumis - I liked mine a lot and will likely go back to them - I just wanted to try something new and got a great deal locally. Have not heard a bad thing about them and the tread life is better than the Ventus

I went with the Sumis and have been very pleased. The car doesn't get tracked and I just can't justify spending the money on PS2s or whatever when the tire reviews don't rank them any better than the cheap models.

Which tires did you have before the Sumis Jake?

Had them on my car for a couple of seasons, auto-x, speed runs, etc. handle much better than the Michelins and a whole bunch cheaper. Believe the Dunklemeister did a very positive review on them somewhere.
Great choice.

Dunlop SP Sport FM901 was what I replaced. The previous owner had them mounted when I bought the car and they were near new so I left them on until the rears wore out. Dry performance was adequate for a street-driven car, but wet performance wasn't great and they were pretty loud.
The Sumis seem a little loud to me, too, but they're better than I had.

I have absolutely loved the Michelin Pilot Sports on both of my cars (the other steet tires I've had were P Zero's and Conti Sport Contacts) so I'll probably go that way again, but I hate spending over a grand on tires....
