944 Turbo (1990) with intermittent power loss
Hi all,
I have a 1990 944 Turbo (952 model) that's just started having a very intermittent power loss. It'll suddenly lose power and drop to idle revs. This happens when it gets above 200O or so RPM, but doesn't always happen. It's a pain to drive at 2000 and below! Any clues on what this might be? In case it's relevant: It's also been idling a little rough for a while (and sometimes 'hunting' between 800 and 1000 RPM). It had the clutch slave and master cylinders replaced a week ago (by the mechanic) and the power loss has happened since then. |

Massive Vacuum leak, bad ISV, bad TPS, bad AFM...
smoke test (pressure test) the intake track, other three pieces, disconnect them while idling and check for changes in teh behaviour durring idle... one that doesn't change the idle is likely the problem part! ALSO, this post is likely better off in the turbo forum (http://reutterwerk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=72) as it gets MUCH more traffic than this one! Welcome to reutterwerk! |

Use these instructions to disable the ISV and try to get the idle set. Once you have the idle set, leave the ISV disabled via the diagnostic port and begin testing for vac leak or bad sensors as John mentioned.
