I am considering a Cayenne S or a Turbo, what is everyone's experience with care/maintenance and driving in dry, rain and snow?

Thanks

Are you considering new or used? If you are considering a used Cayenne, you are probably best buying a 2005 or later. The 2003 and 2004 Cayennes were more prone to problems. They didn't all have problems, but they were more likely.

I have roughly 51,000 miles on my 2004 Cayenne S, and the maintenance has been very reasonable. I've done brakes and a battery, and normal routine maintenance. It has had a few small things fixed under warranty, but nothing big. Overall, it has been very reliable. If you get a used one, make sure to get a good PPI and make sure to get the service history.

I have the 20-inch Sport Technos on mine, and I run a high-performance all-season tire. It is good on dry pavement and in the rain, and it is average in the snow. With a proper snow tire, the Cayenne will perform quite well in snow.

Overall, it is a very capable vehicle in many conditions, and I'd highly recommend it. I would buy another one!

Had my 04 CT for 5 years now only 40k miles on it but basically it has been the most reliable Porsche I have owned and cost me little more than the extended warranty so far.

For an SUV they really are a blast to drive.

It's always good to hear from another satisfied Cayenne owner!

It's kinda funny - my two Porsches (Cayenne and 996) are sometimes looked down upon by other Porsche owners, and they are among the most reliable cars I have ever owned. You always hear people talk about reliability problems of these models, and I simply haven't seen it. I am very happy with both.

We have an 05S and we have only had minor issues until this weekend. The engine is running rough and the check engine light is on. I'm guessing its a bad coil. Not uncommon on these.
Scarey part is warranty is up in December.
We have enjoyed it so far (after getting used to less room).
We have 18" wheels and active suspension (which is standard on the Turbo but an optin on an S. The power on the S is great so the Turbo must be a BEAST.

My warranty expired in October of 2008. I have an extended warranty, but I have yet to use it.

The coils were replaced by Porsche under warranty. There is a TSB directing that if one coil goes bad to change them all.
