Another newb!!!
Well, I've recently joined the Porsche family!
Have owned a number of Supras over the years, starting in 1982! While I've always admired Porsches, I never pursued purchasing one until a few months ago when I had an opportunity to pick up a clean '87 NA 944: 101k miles, no dings or dents - a very clean straight car - not abused or used hard. Most major items (clutch, timing belt, water pump, etc) done in the last five thousand miles. Went through it, did the usual basics when I get a new vehicle - changed filters, basic tune-up, etc. Very happy with the car, although it's a bit underpowered (I guess that's nothing new to most of you here ) Have really enjoyed driving it, but quickly wanted something with a little more hp. Started looking around and found a nice clean black 89 Turbo (my first Supra was black - I've always been partial to black sports cars!). Went and looked at it, really enjoyed the extra power, so I bought it. 90k miles, clean and straight, very complete maintenance records. I do believe I'll be driving some kind of Porsche for many years! So, I started 2010 with -zero- P-cars and now I'm driving two! Joined PCA and hope to get involved with the local group in the next month or two (the last two events I had schedule conflicts with). |

They are both clean, not abused cars. When I first told a friend (who runs a shop) that I was getting a 944 his comment was basically along the lines of "what kind of an idiot are you?" - he's involved in SCCA and NASA and has seen too many worn out ones. I let him look it over after I picked it up - he asked me later in the day what I wanted for it Said it was the cleanest 944 he had seen in a loooong time. I'll probably get rid of the NA car at some point - I really don't need two |
