The Sumis seem a little loud to me, too, but they're better than I had.
Interesting... I find my new Contis quite loud as well... about the same as the Pirellis. I wonder if it's simply the 285 width in the rear that makes them loud.

I have Kumho's now...came with the car....I won't be renewing their lease. Nothing against them...but they don't exactly inspire confidence. I think there are many other choices out there that are better - Yokohama, Bridgestone, Michelin, Toyo, Pirelli...all with better rubber and tread.

So my recommendation right now is what not to buy...and that is Kumho - unless cost is primary factor...they get a "C" rating from me.

But which Kumhos did you have? It isn't fair to rate all Kumho tires as crap, especially if you're running something like the 722's. From what I've been hearing, the Ecsta XS is a great tire and is what I'm considering for my other car.

It looks like it is time for tires......

But I'm glad I have a 996 and not a 997 right now. I was just driving down the highway and I had a blowout on I77.

Sidewall puncture, the kind that a air compressor and a can of fix o flat would not help. I'm glad the 996 was delivered with a mini-spare (something that I have now used on my 986 and 996).

It was time for new tires all the way around anyway (for both Porsches) and that just put off my procrastination. The really bad news is I just checked Tire Rack and the price of 8 new PS2's is not pretty.....

The 911 rears in size 295/30 - 18 are particularly ugly.....

Damn, glad you're OK other than needing tires. Just the other day I thought about dumping my spare and air compressor but ultimately decided against it because I like the way the car drives with a little bit of weight in the trunk.

I considered upgrading to 295s when I replaced my wheels but didn't because of the price difference in tires. Honestly, Ray, I wouldn't spend the extra money on PS2s unless you're absolutely in love with them; there are a lot of tires that are almost as good for a lot fewer dollars. Let us know what you go with...

I agree with this statement as well.
