Default New Video: Automatic-to-Manual Conversion

Here we have taken a 928 S with an automatic, removed the automatic, added the clutch pedal assembly, and installed a 6-speed manual transaxle from a C5-Corvette with one of our conversion kits.

Wow. You make it sound easy. I'm curious about the shifter mechanism. Some Bowden cables rigged to a mechanism clamped to the torque tube?

It simpler than that. No Bowden cables any more - that was for the automatic. We make and attach a straight up shifter box and linkage that goes to the 6-speed. Here it is out of the car:

Sweet. Is that an aluminum torque tube and is it lighter than the stock equivalent?

Yes it is. But the 6-speed weighs more than the 5-speed 928 box (don't know about the weight of an automatic). so Its a wash, weight-wise.
