Default Got banned on RL

For, of all things, trying to stop someone from overcharging on a used item by 100%, when a few months ago he had been informed of the current availability new from Porsche.

And people are showing interest!

Taking advantage of the misinformed is not what these communities are about.

Apparently the moderators do not care. I sent a mod a message about it and got no response. But sure as hell I can get banned in an hour.

I don't know if anyone will read this but I had to vent. It's complete bullshit, and I will be deactivating my account. I have no desire to be associated with a community that allows such things.

Here is why:

"He didn't have your post removed - I saw it and removed it on my own accord.

Why? It's a classified ad. If he wants to ask over market for something that's his business, not yours.

I'm sick and tired of people like you who feel it's your "duty" to police what individuals want to ask for their stuff. "

From good ol Hacker-Pschorr

I hate to say it, but that community is now dead.

No clue. Just goes to show you can't stick up for anyone without repricussions. Sad, really. I sent him a message on here basically saying that I'm sick of those who won't do the right thing just because it's right. Oh well. Thanks man.

The thread is in the for sale sub forum if you want to go look at it. Considering that only paying members are allowed in there, it's a shame the mods won't keep members in line. I'm sure anyone would think different had they found out they were swindled by a seller who knew how much an item was, and knowingly charged a customer double just because.

I don't fault some people for wanting the factory literature. I like having it, but TS personal preference.

Bummer. I have been very inactive over on RL for the past 3 years. It really doesn't have the "community" feel it once used to.

As far as policing classified ads I'm torn. If I saw someone getting ripped off publicly I'd probably send them a PM rather than posting for all to see. Sometimes the seller really doesn't know what the market actually is for their stuff but there are a lot of people that think just because they owned it or overpaid for it that they can ask a premium price. That is their right but they can also sit on it forever.

There is a local shop that has an outdated piece of software for my embroidery machine that I wouldn't mind having. It is almost 10 years old and retail is $500. I offered them $250 and they wouldn't even consider it because they said that was below their cost. It has sat on their shelf for 2 years since I made the offer.

I agree, but this individual had already been notified of the current market price, and his response was basically to "piss off."

I knew if this, which is why I posted the information in his thread.

You're right about the community feeling. It used to feel much better, but now it feels like any other forum. What frustrates me the most, is that it was in the classifieds section, for paying members only. If the moderator staff is willing to let an uninformed person, who is a paying member, be ripped off (especially to such an extent as this example), it's a community I do not wish to be a part of.

So much for doing the right thing, I guess. I hope he sits on them until he comes down to a reasonable price.

As far as Rennlist goes, I'm done with it. I'm going to ask a moderator to deactivate my account.

Says you're on temp leave.
It's a shame though.

You're right though, When i first jumped on RL, it was more of a community, Now it's changed a lot. People come and go though.

Can say even being in Aus, I have met a hand full of members and made a dozen of friends off the forum.

But for a contributing member like yourself, that seems quite harsh. Especially if you're doing the right thing.

There's still a minority on RL who know what they're talking about and are still prepared to share their knowledge without talking down to other posters. Pity one of them isn't a moderator.

I just discovered this and was wondering where you've been. That's just bad bad bad on several levels. Rennlist and pelican seem to have the lion's share of traffic, but wonder if the world is ready for a dedicated 944 board like the old 951forums? IB just doesn't seem to manage RL the way John used to and for whatever reason, this board isn't attracting much traffic. Wonder why?
