Pontifex4's project thread
In the hope that it will motivate me to move as fast as George, John, JoKA, Curt, et al, I'm going to start a project thread here, too.
You may remember the seat redye project I started a while ago, which was kind of a practice swing for the 996 heated sport seats which just arrived today. I'm pretty excited! The backs need paint, and so I need to figure out what colour I'm going to shoot them. Ideas? The car is Zermatt (for now!) and the interior is black, though I'm actually toying with the idea of doing the leather in either brown or can can red. Too much?

"As fast a George, John, JoKA, Curt.."
LMAO, My 951 has been down almost a year, I know Georges build is in its second year, Curt.. well it is a rolling project.. and Jon... well... another rolling project.. If a year to two is fast... well you are blazing! CanCan looks good, some times, and a nice deep rich brown can also look good, I think brown seating in a black interior would look awesome, but then I am going all black! |

BMW have done a lot of red or brown seats over black interiors in the new 3-series coupes, and I think it works well. Maybe I could do the backs in a dark metallic brown to compliment it. I'm also going to need to install switches for the seat heaters, since 996s have them on the dash, rather than the seat. I had been thinking of 928GTS switches (since they weren't on the seats) but what about a pair of standard 944 rear window defrost switches in the console?

And in the center console would be pretty neat.

That is sensational. And you're right about the centre console. I could have that wrapped in cancan leather to match... Do the seat backs meteor grey metallic...
My only concern is that the 996 sport seats have a lot of shoulder, and that's a loud colour...

I have seen one can can car in person and i gotta say it looked fantastic. It was an alpine white '86 n/a and the interior was basically mint.
And i really wouldn't consider it a rolling project right now, its stuck on jack stands .

Personally, I don't care for brown seats in a sea of black. Then again, I don't really care for brown at all.
If I was going to do can can, I'd do the interior in two-tone. Black over can can on the door panels and dash, can can center console, black carpet, black shifter boot with red stitching. Seat backs in black. I'm just having a hard time picturing the 996 seats in red. |

Can can lower on the dash and door panels. Can can seats, with black seat backs. If you were going with black seats, then can can carpet.
