Default How to spend your afternoon, or, Random Valve Adjust pics...

Spooge on Cylinder 4 has been there since buying. 50,000 miles later, and good HP numbers.

Your best friends when doing the valve adjust.

Silicone gaskets worked ok, but after 3rd adjust, they're starting to tear. Replaced with the Reinz gaskets this time.

I helped a friend with that job last year and I must say, it was not fun. At least not to me.

Pat, I don't mind a valve adjust at all, with the exception of the toll it takes on my knees... up / down / up / down. It puts the kind of stress on them that was the cause of me popping the knee out of socket twice in a row last year when changing tires, and pulling one of the ligaments.

I have no airbox on mine, so it's easy to get to the pass side top cover. I have copper gaskets for the fabspeed premuffler & stainless bolts for it, so that comes apart fairly well. I run Seine HeetSheets so the lower covers are pretty clean too.

I should have done it this weekend, but I'll catch up with replacing the fuel filter when I change the cap & rotor next week. Pelican says the parts should be here next Monday. I changed it last year at 88k. Still can't believe I've put 50,000 miles on her since 11/04.
