How about those newer KKK's. Here in Europe they are available for about 550€, which is interesting price of the new turbo. Seems to me you americans dosen't have much experience of Holset turbo installed into 951's. We have installed HX 40 series to several 951's with good results.
What would be the most cost effective turbo to buy which produce good power for 951's (don't need to be a direct bolt on) ?
.

What spool up and hp are you talking with the holset ?

Some of us love the Holsets
Sid has ran about every combination of HX35 / HX40 I can think of. They are absolutely great turbos, and the best "bang-for-the-buck" turbo bar none.
I'm getting ready to swap out my K27, for a Holset. Here is the specs of it, and a GT30R for comparison:

Holset:
Compressor inducer - 56mm
Compressor exducer - 76mm
Turbine inducer - 65mm
Turbine exducer - 58mm

GT30R:
Compressor inducer - 57mm
Compressor exducer - 76.2mm
Turbine inducer - 65mm
Turbine exducer - 60mm

Though not ball-bearing, they still have great transient response and spool, and are much more durable than the garrett stuff. Plus they are rebuild-able, unlike a ball-bearing CHRA. I expect to be very pleased.

That Holset looks like a very close match to the GT30R. I'm sure it should perform well - especially if it is a bolts straight up with no mods. What size hot side are you using?

The GT CHRAs are rebuildable - you just have to know who does the work.

Bolts up to the mount fine, uses a standard T3 inlet, so the crossover flange needs changed. The turbine outlet is Holset-style 5-bolt, so downpipe has to be reworked too. But that isn't a problem, as I've been wanting to upgrade downpipe for a while.
The compressor housing is smaller then the typical Holset, so it actually fits under the intake manifold without issue. Compressor inlet is 4", and has the MWE groove / anti-surge. Turbine is the Hoset measured 9cm^2... Very similar in size to a T3 .63

Didn't know that about being able to rebuild the GT stuff - good to know.

Sounds like the Holset or Garrett GT turbo options require the same amount of exhaust fab work to get them to fit into the 951. What's the price on the Holset you're installing?

I bought mine from a Dodge Cummins guy who was upgrading, I got it for a song. But usually you can find the Holsets for quite a bit less then similar sized Garretts...

New HX 40's are around 700€. Don't know what Holset you are using , but at least with HX40 also engine/turbo support needs to be modified.

Great ! Good informations !

Hi, maybe you can help me with a turbo choice...

I have tow turbo avalabe :

GT3071R and GT3076R.

with two differents turbine housing :

.82 T4 in avec V band out
.63 K26 style

there is four possibilities... what will be your choice ? may aim is to reach at least 350 hp for track with a drivable car on street.

simple.. no set up will be a direct bolt in so the kkk replica housing would be out of the question as it's prone to higher back pressure then standard gt housings

so the .82 housing would be the choice.

the 71R would gain in spool aprox 200-300 rpm but loose topend compared to the 76R

it all depends on what you want out of your engine.

Even k26 style ATP housing are bad ?

I've understand that only real KKK one do lots of backpressure...

Here is the ATP K26 GT30 turbine housing and the big T4 one :

Get the GT3076 and use the .63 Garrett housing that has been modified to the KKK bolt spacing. I use this exact turbo and the results will easily meet your expectation.

Read the first couple of pages in this thread, I've posted pictures of what is required to install this turbo.
