Yes, two methods for removing industrial adhesives (including asbestos tarring abatement) are dry ice and liquid nitrogen.
Dry Ice is usually used to contract the surface to allow the "release" of surface material from the underlying bonding agent. The newly exposed adhesive can then be treated in the same manner releasing it (via induced -thermal contraction) from its substrate. Another option is the use of liquid nitrogen, although MORE care must be used in this process as the effects are significantly greater than dry ice. I would only use LN2 on a tub...

So you just buy some Dry Ice and lay it on the area for ? minutes and then what? Sorry to be so naive but thanks for the tips. This is meant to be one of the least enjoyed jobs on our cars so anything to make it easier.
Thanks guys. |

Patrick,
You have it all wrong. You use the dry ice to keep your beer cold. I removed all the wheel well material with a heatgun and a gasket scraper.. It took hours and it was not fun. I don't think there really is an easy method unless, you have the car down to a tub and then acid dip it or burn it off.. Some people also soda blast it. You may find somebody in the boating industry that can help you without paying a motorsport price. |

Dave, Apply LN2 to an area of the sound deadening......wait about 2-4 minutes....then rubber mallot it. Pops off like peanut brittle. Sorry you were too stupid not to figure that out on your own

cold or heat
I live in a small island 150km away from Africa and 2000km from Spain and one thing i fore sure is that over her we don't have any acid bath to put the car inside as i use to to in udder places.
The nitrogen or cold ice good for a try, it cant be worse than the heat gun and the gasket scraper. |

The list
The sending idea of sending the weight list in EXCEL is that every body can complete it with their own info and send it back to the forum this way we can get it updated.
