Default Why is the 2.0t oil filter so expensive?

Shouldn't it be less? There's no can, no check valves, just a filter and a couple of seals - shouldn't it be about $3.00?

Nobody seems to stock them either. I won't buy a Fram. I went to an O'Reilly, none on the rack but there's a sign that there's more filters behind the counter. So I walk up to the counter and ask for a filter for a 2006 A3 (There's no A3 forum so I thought I'd post here). The guy punches a couple keys and asks "Is that the 3.2 or the 4.2?" No, it's a 2 liter. "Is it a v6 or a v8". Forget it, I'm out of there, there's no reasoning with Mr. I can't push buttons. Went a 1/2 block down to the Autozone and pick one off the shelf. $13.00? WTF?

Sorry, had to rant.
