Interesting...
I wish I had powder coating equipment!

I will be in my kit for around $400.

I figure it will pay for itself rather quickly.

Getting the equipment to do powdercoating is pretty cheap. $100 for a gun and $50-100 for a cheap oven. It's the equipment that's needed to prep that gets expensive if you want to do it yourself. Big compressor, sandblaster, and cabinet can rack up some coin.

My setup that has worked for me for several years:
-Eastwood Hot Coat gun - $80 IIRC (I want to step up to the dual voltage now though)
-Laboratory convection oven - $60 ($3k new, got it from a friend who's dad worked for a lab that was getting rid of stuff; a kitchen oven works just fine, just not as large)
-90lb ATD pressure pot sandblaster - $150 (craigslist find; even a suction blast gun would work)
-Small harbor freight blast cabinet - $50 (craigslist find; Have a much larger/nicer one that I got recently though)
-26 gallon 4cfm Speedaire compressor - $200 (craigslist again; not ideal for sandblasting, but it works. You can blast for probably 10 minutes before it gets too bad that you have to stop. I now have an 80-gallon 2-stage though)

Yea I am lucky enough to have a blast cabinet and a good compressor. I just need a new dryer setup.

I am already planning on building an oven with some custom features so I can do bike frames and such.

Oh, my! Is that for your S2? And do you have the 968 transmission, as well?

I dig the powder coat. Did you do the fuel rail cover, too?

Charlie I am actually cheating a bit, I will have the 968 intake, cam cover and fuel rail cover on my S2 until a good 968 Variocam head comes up FS. And it will get coated in the next few days.

Will you be coming to the fest this year?

I won't be able to make it this year. Too many other projects in the works, though I'm sure I don't need to tell you about that! How's the house coming?

Well at this point I have gutted the whole thing, got the subflooring in and framing done. As soon as the fest/parade madness is over I am going to do the plumbing.

How far are you from Buffalo NY?

It's about a 4hr drive with no traffic (but that never happens because I have to cross Toronto to get there).

Are you planning to come over the border at all? I'll be at Mosport (just east of Toronto) for a club race with PCA June 28-30. There would be a lot of awesome stuff to look at!
