Default New C4 can go 2WD on demand!

Saw this crazy story this morning about the new PDK 911 C4. Evidently, you pull up one click on the parking brake, and it becomes a 2WD!

That makes sense and is not the first car to do this, but I did not expect to find this on a Porsche. I like the idea though. Basically when you raise the E-brake, a computer tells the center differential to disengage so that when you are doing something like a J-turn, or really need to get the rear end around you will not have to fight the center diff and awd system to do it.

I first saw this on a EVO VII, that a good friend of mine campaigned for several years, in Pro-Rally. I am sure that even this is not the first application, but it sure made things a bit easier in the dirt.

Nice to see that Porsche has adapted this, as well. I wonder if there will be any long term issues with doing this. Time will tell I guess.

Thanks for the information, good to know.

Warmest Regards,
