Had to paint fenders and hood
Who can guess what precipitated this paint job?
Had to do the hood and the fenders. Two different reasons. Neither involved contact with another vehicle or stationary object. Luckily, I still had almost a quart of paint from when I painted the car 10+ years ago. PPT had obsoleted the paint line but I found the right reducer for the enamel. Looks pretty good but I could only get two coats out of it. Where it was covered it looks great but a few sports could have used that third coat to add depth. Oddly, or not oddly, the primer is a lot better are finding odd spots to cling to. The back edge of the hood is gray still. The paint just didn't get where the primer went. Whoops. Not getting a new quart to deal with it. I'd end up re-painting the whole thing.

Yes. On the fenders. The ones that really bothered me were in the tops of the fenders. At the track, the sticky tires throw them up hard enough to damage the paint and a few dime-sized flakes had broken off.
I've sprayed ruber undercoating on them now. I'm looking at getting later fender (85+) liners to put in. They should work without a few mounting points my '80 lacks. How about the hood?
