Front Differential Oil
All,
Figured seen as some of the usual suspects are on here would ask a technical question. Want to change the front diff oil on my C4 and have just picked up some Castrol Syntrax universal 75W-90 transmission fluid. I know it is the right weight from posting on the other forum and is API GL4/GL5 compliant but just want to check it is OK before using it. Cheers in advance, i.

Yes, it should be fine. The front differential is just a gear box. I changed mine a few years ago and used Mobil 1 75W90 and its running well.

Did it all successfully - and the oil in there wasn't too bad and still lightish in colour. Think it may have been the original with 93k on it as have no trace of it having been done in the past. On the magnetic sump plug there was some fine black crud but no real metal shavings which is good to know. Hopefully good for another few years again now!

Local supplier should be fine. I used the same gear oil as what I put in the tranny. In my case, I use Mobil 1 75W90 gear oil. Note: Some 964 owners prefer the Mobil 1 Devlac oil.
