Default Rebuild k26 OR?

Hi! I'm new to this forum. I have an 87 951 with rogue tunings' afm chip, and an LR manual boost control. I've just pulled the k26 & plan to have it rebuilt with a billet compressor wheel. the turbo shop rep stated that the billet wheel will give the k26 30% more air flow. I'm also considering replacing the stock WG with a Synapse 40mm. Any thoughts & suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a good plan. is the billet wheel going on the hot or cold side? The stock WG might be tired and anything would be an upgrade.

It's going on the compressor (cold) side. Any ideas on where to get WG adapter plates for Tial 38mm/Synapse? Pauer Tuning no longer sells them unless it's a 10 or more group buy.

i see them on rennlist fairly often, I do know that i have mine and after i got them i stopped looking. Lindsey Racing might sell them. I think the going price is around 125 for the set i think.

have you considered going with a larger hot side on the k26? maybe a #8?

How much of a difference did it make when you replaced your K26 with the K26/8? BTW I'm running an 86 engine in my 87 as well.

If you can find a k26/8 cheap then use that for a rebuild. More flow in the turbine means more lag (~200rpm more from #6 to a #8 housing) but less back pressure which means more boost at higher rpm and boost will be stronger at higher rpm.

Other then that, the billet wheel sounds like a good idea.
