Latest Project for the Ole N/A..
Got this cracked all to hell burgundy dash from a fellow lister...
First I repaired the cracks, and now I am working on smoothing the dash itself... just a little bit more sanding to do once the last coat cures... Based on the headliner panel I did last week, this should turn out pretty nice! Enjoy! |

The headliner panel was, but this is an OE dash, that was badly cracked (through the foam underlayment all the way to the metal core).. I repaierd / filled the cracks using FG re-enforced epoxy filler (stays flexible enough for this task).. and the overall smoothing is done using flexible body filler..
Once the final sanding is done I will be bonding marine grade vinyl to the dash.. it should turn out almost as good if not as good as the factory finish.. I just need to order a couple of the dash trim pieces from 928 leathershop, or come up with an alternative for finishing the dash around the defrost vents.. still thinking about that, but over all I am happy with teh results so far! |

All in all I am happy with the results, however I found a shop that quoted under $400 for full leather recover.. so my 951 dash will be headed there next... |

To recover the dash? If you're insane it's possible. Removing the dash is an involved process but not hard.

I can have a dash out in 30-45 minutes. I think that means I've done it too many times!

A lot longer than it does to take out! Probably around 1.5 - 2 hours. I'm usually upside down under the dash checking all the wiring which can take a while. There's a couple of places that if the harness is in the wrong place, a screw or a sharp edge could damage it.

Well, the dash vent covers should be delivered today, actually sitting here waiting for the fed ex guy right now!
then I need to finish the dash recover, and swap this dash into my NA.. the dash out of the NA goes back to the lister I got the dash being recovered from.. Then I need to get to work on the Turbo dash... |

It FEELS like a million bucks. Absolutely wonderful material that looks the part too. Unfortunately, it's going to out-class the rest of the vinyl in the interior.
