The stand is done, but hasn't shipped yet. Hopefully soon. I also ordered a ultrasonic cleaning system that utilizes a Elmasonic P60H.

I went ahead and ordered an ultrasonic setup. I went with an Elma dual frequency ultrasonic cleaner.

Is that a factory service? I've seen some 3rd party places that will rebuild mine, but I don't have a factory option. They will give a $100 discount on a new one though. Not familiar with Hana.

I cleaned some of my worst sounding albums last night, but I haven't played them yet. They've taken a ride in the Spin-Clean but that didn't seem to help much, which is why I went ahead and ordered the Cleaner Vinyl. Surprised how much crud came off them. May give them a 2nd cleaning before playing.

Lyra used to just do an exchange w a discount on the new one but apparently now is doing rebuilds/retips. I’m having mine done at https://vasnyinc.com/repair-service/

You guys are serious! I do have a turntable from 1972 that I am trying to get back into normal operating mode; DUAL 1218 I believe.

Doug is serious. I'm just enthusiastic

Is that an idler turntable? I was looking at Dual turntables on eBay for a while. Break it out and post up pictures!

1219 actually. This is the stereo my Dad bought in Germany in '71-'72 timeframe. I've had it since '86. Dual 1219 turntable, Sansui A2000 Supertuner, Sansui 6 speaker real wood speakers.

I have the original stored and replaced it with something cheap off amazon. While I know a lot about electronics, I know little about turntable cartridges other than how to change them.

This is what I have:

LINK

The rubber mat has departed from the platter and has a bump along the rotation. I carefully removed but need to clean the platter and mat glue and reposition.

I have other work to do on the speakers but overall, things still function. I am going to rehab all the crossovers with new capacitors on the board.

Might not need to glue the mat back down. I'd clean off the old residue and try it without the glue. My old Pioneer was like that, but that was so you could get to the belt with the platter installed.

Check out Mr. Carlson's Lab on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU9...wrWb_3GxeteQPA
He talks quite a bit about capacitors and other components and has recommendations on high-quality caps. If I recall, he likes Illinois Capacitor for polypropylene capacitors, Rubycon Capacitor for electrolytic.

What else do the speakers need? I'd be ok with doing the crossover and wiring work, but I wouldn't trust my skills on mechanical repairs on the speakers themselves.

I've been wanting to go to the record stores, but can't drag myself out of the house in this heat. I think I'm done trying to get vinyl from eBay - hasn't been a very positive experience overall. Some have been good, but over half have had issues and there are many unscrupulous sellers there. Used vinyl from Amazon has been ok so far. Thrift stores have been a complete bust. Nothing at yard sales so far, but we don't have yard sales very often around here.

Actually, I re-did the foam on the Cerwin Vega's a couple of times already. Patience and perseverance! It was nothing short of a pain though.

That looks awesome, Curt! I've been tossing around the idea of refurbishing an old stereo console, or putting together my own like you.

There's a guy in Madison that sells refurbed units from the 50s-70s on Facebook Marketplace that I've been following. Several friends have bought his units and been very happy, but I'm not sure that I don't just want a 'modern' unit.

There's a place here in downtown Norfolk that has some really cool mid-century modern furniture. It's by appointment only (even before recent events) and their prices are beyond ridiculous. I went once a couple years ago and haven't been back since. They had a Burke 115 chair that I really wanted. It's what the Star Trek TOS bridge chairs are based off of. $8k. For one.

I still try to look for estate and yard sales for mid-mod stuff, but I've never been that lucky. Thinking back to all the stuff we threw away in the 80s when redoing Grandpa's Florida house is depressing.
