Default I hate my basket handle

I hate the asthetics of the basket handle/3rd brake light on my cab. But, since it is a cab, I do not have the option of the roof mounted 3rd brake light. What, if anything, can be done about this short of long term therapy (for me, not the car)?

I kinda like the basket handle, but would prefer an RS tail myself.

If you like the clean look on the cab w/o a tail, I'm not sure there are many options aside from the basket handle or the old "ET" style light from the earlier cars. If you go w/ a tail, some folks have installed the light bar in the back edge of it.

Does anyone know of options to replace the basket handle on '95 coupes? I admit to taking a short-cut here, rather than doing all of the research myself.

Yeah? Well, I hate your basket handle, too, Inka T. So there.

Speaking of RS tails, I've been considering one. I also prefer the 'clean' look of no tail. But at least the RS isn't a real big one.

The main reason is I don't need that motorized thing going up and down all the time. Geez. Esp. on a stop and go freeway. I want it just up when necessary (+70) or down.

But I'm concerned about a change in handling dynamics just slapping on a RS spoiler. Will I need splitters or something? I don't want to find out the hard way.......

Of course you can fill the holes and re-paint but you can find -96 & newer deck lids on eBay quite often for $250-400 or so.

This is what I did when I installed an RS wing to my car.

And yes, I also hated it...

Canyon56,

FYI, if you manually raise the lid, it won't go up & down every time you stop & start (it stays up) or get the modified tail control unit that raises the speed when the tail will go up.

Yes, thanks. And I've been thinking of going with the RUF module. But I also dislike the looks of the motorized stock spoiler when it's up. And I've had to twice replace the plastic wall, which tends to break. And it's not easy to realize since only the people behind you see it... and laugh at your 'old broken down' Porsche with the plastic flapping in the wind

The RS tail is aesthetically pleasing to me but I'm wondering if I need front splitters to really balance lift correctly at higher speeds. I have the Turbo style front bumper; I was thinking of getting the OEM front Turbo S lip. Would it then be "aerodynamically correct?" I don't know anybody whose done the Turbo S lip and the RS tail together. Of course, it'll will end up being a mutt

My cab currently has the Turbo tail on it and were no LEDs installed, so it just doesn't have the center brake light--no problems so far.

I have been thinking about picking up the stock decklid for a change of look, but I haven't found one at a reasonable (to me) price in GR yet...

I had my body shop get rid of the basket handle on mine. Currently running with no CHMSL, but probably will eventually do the rear window one ony coupe.

Is there a center brake light from the '96-'98 models years that can be adapted to the '95 models?

Yes. Starting in late build '95's the center brake light is mounted over the rear window. Just need to wire it in...

Thanks, Brian. That seems to be a nice update for a '95 coupe.

I had mine taken off last year and had the 96+ style light installed. Here are the before and after pics.
