Default Operation cat/bypass.... over.

The fab speed cat bypass pipes I installed last summer sound great. Problem is.. toooo stinky. Not som much for me as the wife. So what's the next best thing, not crazy loud or stinky. This is for a 95 cab. Would be willing to trade or sell the pipes after I remove them and switch to something new.

My suggestion (and what I've done) is to go with the system that Chris has...200cell sport cats are a great option. I had the Fabspeed bypasses on my car for awhile...was frustrated by the smell, the fit and the fact that they are visible from the rear (a poor design, IMHO).
I've had Chris' system on my car for almost 2 years...very, very happy.

The DACH X w/ 200 cell cats is sweet. I just complimented it w/ a set of Fister Stage II's and it sounds amazing.

What's this 'smell' issue ? You mean the car smells like a car again ? I'm having trouble getting my head around this !

Thx,

Peter R.

Smells like unburnt fuel.. I'm sorta o.k. with it but the wife doesn't like it when we stop at a light and we are encompassed in the fumes. I wished she enjoyed it more but horse manure is more to her liking. To each his own I guess.

I bought my car with the Fabspeed crossovers on it and it was too loud and smelled exhaust-ey. I put a cat back on. I couldn't detect any performance degradation by doing so, either.

That would be full rich you are smelling, not unburnt fuel (necessarily). As well you may be smelling oil blow-by (if your valve seals are gone or going), remember with no cats there's nothing to filter out what the motor is burning, so you get the full brunt of it all. I always suggest to those with cabs not to do by-pass pipes but go with sport cats.....the smell can be overwhelming without cats.

Guys, thanks for the plugs and kind words, glad you're all still enjoying the pipes

Can't say enough good things about the DACH pipes. Mine don't have cats, and I have Chris' mufflers as well. A tech at the local Porsche dealer said my 993 is the best sounding he's ever heard.

(new here, can't find how to encode a signature) so until I do, it's:

'95 Porsche 993 C2 (Midnight Blue/Tan, DACH Xpipe, DACH-R muffs,Motorsound airbox,PSS10,RS Speedlines on the way, Cup IIs going up for sale)
'06 Mini Cooper (O.Z,MTH, Milltek & M7 tuned)

I too have Chris' Cat Pipes on my 993, and I love them! Great sound, performance, and no check engine light!

I'm still trying to make up my mind about what I'm going to do with my exhaust system but need to hear what these mods sound like. I know it will sound different on my supercharged engine but it should give me a rough idea.

Links please.

here try this. The most realistic clip I've ever heard, sounds amazing if you have a nice computer speaker setup with a sub woofer

Sounds good. What is the exhaust system? By-pass + cat or no cat and which muffler?
Thanks

by-pass pipes with DACH-R's muffs, cats would cut down the noise a little
