Mission Complete: Engine and Trans Oil Changed
If you are not sure about whether you want to do this or not...it is so easy.
I read a lot about it and it made it out to be a lot harder than it was. This is my first oil change on my 993 and took me 1.5 hours with the trans oil included. The oil tank filter...cake. The engine filter...cake. I chose to remove the oil line under the filter, probably didn't need to but I wanted to, took an extra 5 minutes. Drained tank oil, drained engine case, removed filters, cleaned up slight mess. Filled with 10 quarts and my dipstick is just a tad over 1/2 and the oil gauge is at 8 o'clock. Quarts 9 and 10 took a bit longer. I also did the trans oil...I used Delvac, took out Swepco 201. I might go back to Swepco though I like the feel a tad better. More to come on that as time goes on. The Delvac was in a 1 gallon jug and I used a pump that screwed on the top of the container...about 80 pumps later it's all in. I did heat up the oil by leaving the jug in the laundry tub with hot water. I used the cheapo oil filter wrench from Sears, worked great. Get yourself a few extensions for your rachets and you are going to enjoy it! Of course I don't have any pics...camera was in my backpack...at home

Forgot to mention, I used Brad Penn 20w50 Green Oil, $62.00 for a case of 12, delivered by a local distributor, KRS Distributing in Long Beach...he lives close to work and offered to drop it off for me.

Need to do my transmission soon. I'll be trying Delvac for this one.

I just did my second change with Brad Penn and have been very pleased with the results.
