Congrats on the Shark! Love the color.
Someone more knowledgeable than myself should be along but I'd make sure the timing belt and water pump services are up to date. Maybe you could provide some specifics on the year, model, options, etc.

Looks good and a fun color.
These things tend to have a lot of "deferred maintenance" when bought. That is, the previous owner let pricey Porsche repairs go while deciding to sell. Get the repair records. Yes, it's the timing belt that needs to be looked at. Should be done every 5 years or 50,000 miles. People will differ, but those are good targets.

Are you in the USA? That is a euro version s4.
Speed yellow I do not think was offered in 1989 ( or ever on a 928 ) so it was a re spray I would bet. Not a bad thing in my opinion. I would rather have a good re spray then bad original paint but that's me. True Speed Yellow is a non metallic paint so it should "age" well. If its an automatic....check you crank end play and release tension on the flex plate. Timing belt will need changing as well and a new water pump as its easy to get to at that point. Clean all grounds and see what works and what doesn't. Car looks nice ...we will love to see more pix when you have the car in hand. !! SOFT fuel lines need to be refreshed. 928Rus has a kit for a couple hundred US dollars last I bought some.

Wow...its right hand drive! So I assume you are in good ole England or maybe Australia.
Don't be discouraged if it will not start right away. Fuel tank, injectors are probably really dirty. Fuel pump hasn't run in a long time so it may be seized as well. ( its under the gas tank in the rear to check for power to it ) Just focus on your FUEL, AIR and SPARK. The electrical system is complex but you will get it if you hand in there. ( fuse panel in passenger floor board.) You WILL NEED the service manuals on disk available form 928Rus as well. ( Roger at 928Rus is from England as well ) .

that is beautiful; love the color. I agree with Dean that it is probably a respary, altho Porsche would give you any color you want for the right price.

Will love seeing more pix soon.
Check inside motor compartment fender area for original color. Someone would have to pull the motor to change that color. Seats look like Linen color.

I stand corrected. Looks like it was a very late year model color X4 code. Thanks for enlightening me.

I have always loved that color on a 928.
Post the area of Australia you are in, as there are some very fine 928 folk that may be close by you.

If the colour is original (should be a sticker on the door jamb on the passenger side), then you've got a nicely unusual 928. If you post the VIN I can give you the option codes - they're also on the sticker in the floor of the rear hatch (and in the front oft he service manual), but they don't have the colour codes. Looks like the car was originally a UK car to me - probably has C16 on the sticker in the rear hatch (clues are no rear AC controls, and what looks like an mph/kph speedo). Which state are you in? Has the car been registered before in Oz? Do you have a copy of the import approval papers? Who's going to work on the car, you? If you're paying someone, be very very careful who you get to work on it, otherwise costs will mount rapidly with no progress. I've imported a few 928's over the years - I'm in Sydney, so familiar with the rego process in NSW. Seats will scrub up very well - I recommend ordering some Gliptone shampoo and conditioner for it; you can get it cheaper from the UK mail order than from Oz distributors, and then have at it. (leatherique works too for initial cleaning, but having tried both, I prefer gliptone). Also pick up some Aerospace 303 for treating the interior plastics (especially the top of the instrument pod - being a UK car yours probably isn't cracked from UV damage yet). Welcome!
