Top strut mounts are under the carpet behind the rear seats--where the soft top is stored when driving top-down. Basic instructions to get to them:
1. Partially open the soft top...you need the rear "hatch" to fully open and the soft top to start to retract. (When I do it the front of the top is within 6 inches of the front window.) 2. Unhook the two cables that hold the rear of the soft top down. They attach to the car with small ball joints that come undone by hand. This frees up the rear window, which you will tip forward from the rear, providing access to the carpeted area. 3. Remove the carpet. There are four plastic retainers that hold the carpet to the back of the rear seats. Pull those out and then work the carpet loose. Remove it from the car. 4. The top strut mounts are underneath some black foam rubber on either side of the car, near to the two aluminum supports for the rear seats (part of the rollover protection system). 5. Reverse the above steps to reinstall everything. Good luck. |
