Me no like, but I'd like to see in person. What was the reasoning for this change? If just performance I'd say meh, can't help drag coef. that much.

I like it but would be worried that even a slight bump to the mirror could result in door panel damage.

No slight bump will ever result in door panel damage. It's highly unlikely that the mirror is simply attached to the sheet metal skin of the door. It's more likely that there is a structural attach point to the frame of the door.
