They've got H2O. That's no Porsche.

I don't mind a 996 next to my 993!...(but only in a WB version)
I used to be a hater but not anymore. After all, we are from same family, No?
I mean, you have some that's better looking than the other but that's life.

I think it's a joke that will continually go on...until people realize that the 997 and newer are ALSO water-pumpers.

Haha yeah I know, I just think it's funny that the joke can keep running since it's been 10+ years since an air cooled porsche came off the line!

So the gang's all here?

This "joke" (put down) has been around since 1976 when the first 924s were delivered. Every 924, 928, 931, 944, 951, 968, 986 (Boxster), 987 (Boxster and Cayman), Cayenne, 996 MkI and 996 MkII and I am sure many a 997 owner has heard the "joke" at least once. I wonder if 959 and Carrera GT owners are told they don't own a real Porsche?
I was at an official Porsche Concours event many years ago. I overheard (he was speaking in very loud voice) a Speedster owner demanding that the officials ban and remove a 968 that had been entered in the same event as his Speedster, because it was not a "real Porsche."
I have seen many a water-pumper owner isolated at Porsche events, told to park away from the air-cooled brigade.
It may seem to some to be a "joke" but sadly to many it's not, they are serious.
However, the best "joke" of all is that had Studebaker not backed out at the last minute, the second Porsche model in production after the 356 would have been a 4-door, front water-cooled engine, sedan. It's possible the 356 would have been the first and last air-cooled Porsche. However, it didn't work out that way and air-cooled in one model range only, lasted from 1963 to 1998 until it to switched to water-cooled engines, and it's been that way for the past 10 plus years. I think many are just going to have to get used it because water-cooled and 911 are joined together at the hip and air-cooled is now an historical perspective.
Ciao,
Gyro.
