Default Parts haul!

Recently, a local Porsche hobbyist offered to sell his collection of 928 spares. He had done an interesting project of putting a Euro S engine with a 5L block into a 914. (search for "914 Alien" or "918" in interested) A real problem for him was that the driver's side (even) cam broke but the bolt for the sprocket held. This led to piston damage and, finally, needing a spare Euro S engine.

He's moving to a smaller place and moving on from needing 928 spares so I've got a fresh pick-up load of spares. Some stuff is useful like a pair of Bosch alternators. There's an '83+ Euro S block and pistons, too. (M28.22) What I'm most happy with is a pair of Euro S heads. Pictured below.

In one big blue tub, there were 3 pairs of cylinder heads. The problem with unknown heads is that the casting numbers aren't part numbers and only hint at what it is. Measuring the valves and intake port gives the facts. Standard US heads have 38mm exhaust valves and 43mm intakes. The "S" heads have 40mm exhaust and 45mm intake valves. The intake port is also bigger with 38mm on US heads and 40mm for a Euro S. (Or "RoW" if you'd like)

The casting numbers are:
928.104.346.1R (early US 4.7l 38/43mm)
928.104.356.1R (later US 4.7l 38/43mm)
928.104.348.3R (later Euro S 40/45mm)

Parts may be parts but some parts are more equal than others!
