Hang in there Rob. At least you'll be able to spend some time with your brother in these trying times.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Rob, you always have great photos. You could have made money as a photographer if you'd chosen to....but it's hard money to capture. NGood work.

    Hey Rob,

How are things going selling cars? Having fun? Any success stories in selling? It's amazing how easy it is to sell when you are enthused and clearly having a good time. The past few weeks my clients and prospects have been baffled by my enthusiasm market wise. While it sucks to have your clients and your own assets down a chunk the good news is in the tremendous opportunities going forward. I'm sure the enthusiasm you have for cars makes a difference selling them.

A few weeks ago I was in the A/V store I am a silent partner in just to say hi and began chatting with a customer who thought I was a salesman there. After about 20 minutes of small talk he asked what I would put together for a H/T system for his needs and wound up selling a full complement of McIntosh components and Dynaudio speakers/subs. Basically it was the same stuff I have as thats what I know.

The head sales guy was somewhat dismissive of my "success" because I don't know what he knows about the technical aspects of the stuff. I reminded him that technical knowledge isn't why he or most people will buy, it's enthusiasm for the clients needs and equipment that sells. Same for any other product/service.

Hope you and your family are well.

    Kind Regards,
    Freddy Reiner

A friend needed help running his fishing boat back from Alaska.

We started in Petersburg, Alaska. My buddy runs his gill net boat out of there w/his family. They have to go back down early to start school. They had a great year. The sockeye runs, both down here and up there, have been the best in decades.

My brother-in-law, my son, a friend, and I decided to try to climb Mt. Baker for my son's fifteenth birthday last summer. It was also the summer solstice the day we summited. It's 10,778' high and ~30 miles from the ocean.

( Pics are from a point and shoot. )

Here's how it looks from the water.

Written in August of 2006:

Overnight Sensation was our oldest shepard's name during her brief career as a show dog.

Last Wednesday we took our annual family backpacking trip. Our youngest is 10 now and has been backpacking for three years, so we planned a more strenuous hike this year; a little over 40 miles roundtrip w/4,500' of elevation gain/loss in three nights/four days of hiking. I really wanted to take the dogs this year as I always wish they were w/us. My...

Maurice Maeterlinck's book, The Fourth Dimension, argues that Time is the fourth dimension. It doesn't exist in itself, but rather is always relative to the individual's idea of time. He used a curve to illustrate this theory. Standing on the Present, on the highest point of the curve, you can look back and see the Past, or look forward and see the Future, all in the same instant. Or if you stand off to one side of the curve, your eye wanders from one to the other w/out any distinction.
