I found this old photo today. This is The Berkeley Bomb. A buddy of mine and I made it from a rolled VW when we were in high school in 1964. We used old fire hose to line the cut edge. My buddy welded the jeep style panels where the doors were. I remember us getting questions from people as to what that was on the back of the car. We used to say it was the air conditioner and bust out laughing as we drove off leaving the questioner with a puzzled look on their face.

I'm a trained health professional, (Pharm.D.: Doctor of Pharmacy) and worked in a university teaching hospital on the wards, rounding every day with the medical team for 10 years before I jumped into the drug industry for another 20 years. I worked in the area of oncology and oncology drugs.

Well, I mentioned in my blog introduction that going to UC Berkeley in the late 60's was interesting enough for its own blog, so I should at least give it one BIG post.

At that time, Berkeley was an incredible place to go to college. The breadth and depth of its offerings was essentially unmatched by any US university. I'm 60 (as of 10/08), retired via lay-off from the computer hardware industry, which was actually my third career. Graduated from Berkeley in the late sixties, which is enough for a blog in itself. Married almost 25 years with 2 kids sort of in college (Gen Y doesn't seem to take college seriously).

I came to Porsches during my mid-life crisis when I naturally decided I wanted a sports car. My wife insisted it have 4 seats! Hmmm... I wasn't happy with anything I saw with 4...
